Getting There

You drive north. You buy groceries. You find a marina at the end of a road that runs out of road, and there is a boat there waiting, and the boat is Jura.

🚗
THU PM

Drive to Deep Bay

Marine and Rosie leave Victoria by 5 PM, pick up Ben in Duncan, grab groceries, then north on Hwy 19 to Deep Bay. About 2h15 Duncan to dock. Aim to arrive ~8 PM.

DUNCAN

Grab groceries on the way

Stop in Duncan when picking up Ben — Superstore or similar. Galen has the basics aboard — bring fresh food, snacks, whatever makes you happy.

~8 PM

Board Jura at Deep Bay Marina

Galen is already aboard. Park at the marina — your car stays for the weekend. Step onto the dock, hand down your bags, and feel the boat move under your feet.

Parking at the marina

Your car waits patiently at Deep Bay. Check with the marina about parking arrangements — spots are usually available but worth confirming.

🎒

What to Bring (and What Not To)

🛏️
Warm Sleeping Bag
March nights are cold on the water. Bring the warmest bag you have.
🧦
Slippers
The cabin sole is cold. Slippers help.
🦺
PFD (Optional)
Jura has life jackets for all, but if you have one you like — bring it.
🧳
Pack Light
Soft bags only — no hard suitcases. Space is limited on a 33-footer.
The Bahá'í Fast

It's the Bahá'í Fast — nineteen days of sunrise-to-sunset fasting. Rosie, Ben, and Galen are all fasting during daylight hours — Marine will plan her own lunches. Galen will be up at 5:30 making breakfast before the sun clears the mountains.
